South School Scoop
Fifth grade students at South Elementary School enjoy presenting the "South School Scoop" every Friday as part of the School Media Communications Club.
Second Grade Teacher Ms. Hailey Keefe, who runs the club, said the it started off four years ago as a newspaper club with a focus on writing.
The club has now moved online and is a more digital news club in which students use multiple applications to create videos and animations like iMovie, Sketches School, Canva and Clips.
A group of passionate 5th graders dedicate some of their recess time to create news clips that cover a variety of topics.
In their weekly videos, students report on details about upcoming events, interview students and staff, give book recommendations, report on the weather and much more.
The students enjoy sharing the good news about South School in a fun and engaging way.
The students love seeing themselves in the news and they are very passionate about what they report.
