Students in Ms. Naomi Atkinson's 1st grade class at South Elementary School participated in a fun and engaging phonics lesson this week.
The students were first given a worksheet in which they had to answer the question "Would you rather be a unicorn or a dinosaur?"
The first graders had to draw a picture and write a sentence about it.
Next, the students moved to the carpet and sounded out and spelled words together.
They then worked on building words with Ms. Atkinson.
She would give them a three letter word to spell and they had to build the word using magnetic letters and then had to write the word down in their workbook.
The students are on their way to quickly learning to read!
