Fifth Grade Four Square Fun

The image shows several young people engaged in a physical activity, such as playing a game or participating in a physical education class, in what appears to be a school or community center setting.

South Elementary School fifth graders in Mr. O'Donnell's PE class had fun playing games of tag and four square.

After jogging a few laps around the gym to warm up, a student volunteer explained how to play the tag game called "Everyone's It."

The object of the game was for players to tag other students, but instead of people "freezing," they had to keep a running count of everyone they touched in three minutes.

No one person was "it" and no one stopped playing when tagged. After this game, Mr. O'Donnell explained the rules of Four Square.

The class divided up into groups, each having their own set of squares.

The first set of students started to play the game by serving the ball into another student's square.

The other students had to try and hit the ball into another square after one bounce.

If it bounced twice or if it went outside the border of the squares, then that game was over and the students had to rotate.

The students had a fun time playing the game, trying to figure out the best techniques to stay in the squares.
