Brain Building with Clay

Two young students are intently focused on their work, with one using colored pencils to draw or write on the floor in front of them.

Fourth graders at South learned all about the different parts of the brain last week.

LMC Specialist Debbie Muraiti said the lesson is through Project Lead the Way's Input/Output Human Brain Unit.

The students spent time working together to build a model brain from clay.

They studied the physical features of the brain and also the functions of the different regions of the brain.

Muraiti said the students are investigating how the brain processes information and how it stores memory.

They are also learning how the brain communicates with other organs and how it guides a person's reactions.
